Sexual Abuse

It happens behind closed doors

We don’t want to talk about it

We sweep it under the floor.

I haven’t had the experience

But I’ve experienced it’s pain

I’ve counselled many others

Who live with constant rain.

We MUST learn to talk about it

Their stories MUST be told

They need to have the liberty

To speak out and be bold.

Shame is what they carry

They often feel the blame

Their lives are truly ruined

Many feel insane.

We speak of compassion

Which is an action word

So to turn the other way

Really is absurd.

We have to help these people

We have to bring some light

It won’t just go away

It’s the terror of their night.
